Children’s Liturgy of the Word

During certain Masses at Our Lady of the Rosary, we offer Children’s Liturgy of the Word—a special opportunity for children to hear and reflect on the Sunday readings in language they can more easily understand.

After the opening prayer of the Mass, children are invited to process with a leader to a nearby space, where the Gospel is proclaimed from the Children’s Lectionary. They listen to the Word of God, engage in age-appropriate discussion, and explore how Scripture applies to their daily lives. The session concludes with prayers of the faithful, after which the children return to the main assembly for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

Purpose
The goal of the Children’s Liturgy is to help young people:

  • Hear God’s Word in a way that speaks to their hearts
  • Begin to develop a deeper understanding of Scripture
  • Learn to actively participate in the Mass
  • Grow in love for Jesus and His Church

Who Can Attend?
Children typically from ages 4 through 2nd grade are welcome. No registration is required—simply attend the scheduled Mass and join when the children are called forward.

Volunteers Needed
We rely on caring and enthusiastic adult leaders and helpers to guide the children. Training and materials are provided. Serving in this ministry is a beautiful way to help plant the seeds of faith in the next generation.
