Anointing of the Sick
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is a sacred encounter with Christ, offering healing, strength, peace, and spiritual comfort to those who are suffering. It is not only for those at the point of death but for anyone facing serious physical, emotional, or spiritual trials.
This sacrament reminds us that God is with us in our suffering, and through the anointing with holy oil and the prayers of the Church, the person receives grace to endure, hope to persevere, and, if it be God’s will, restoration to health.
Who Should Receive This Sacrament?
- Anyone facing a serious illness or undergoing a major medical procedure
- The elderly, especially those experiencing the burdens of aging or weakness
- Individuals suffering from chronic or debilitating physical or mental conditions
- Those nearing the end of life (It is encouraged to receive this sacrament earlier rather than waiting until the final moments)
